Oba Platform

Description:

The Oba Learning Management System (OLMS) began in 2011 as a project by Global and Online Education (GOE), a department of the College of Education at the University of Oregon. The result is a platform that seamlessly combines and extends the leading open source LMS, e-portfolio and social networking systems to provide a powerful, flexible, learner-centric hub for both online and blended learning.

OLMS’ social networking and e-portfolio tools are powered by Mahara. Course delivery and management are powered by Moodle, the world’s largest and most popular LMS. These core platforms are extended with the highest quality third party and in-house plugins to provide a compelling and integrated online space for learners and educators. OLMS is PHP based.

The OLMS offers two distinct platforms: ObaWorld and ObaVerse. GOE’s ObaWorld platform provides the tools described to thousands of students and teachers at 43 K12 institutions spanning 7 countries and 12 US states. The ObaVerse platform also offers these tools and it is tailored for higher education; it is already in use by educators from around the world, including 53 courses and over a thousand users within the UO.
